Vintners’ Holidays
Location: Yosemite National Park: The Ahwahnee, CA
Dates: Sun – Thur, Nov 1 – Dec 3, 2009
Web Site: http://www.yosemitepark.com/SpecialEventsPackages_SpecialEvents_VintnersHolidays.aspx
Email: tami@ellipsespr.com
Estimated Attendance: ?
Price: 4 (1 to 5, low to high)
Details: This is the real deal. The price is a surprising bargain because it includes either a 2 or 3 day stay. If you have ever stayed on site at Yellowstone you understand the rooms are not inexpensive. But alas, this has accomodations plus an outstanding wine event. Take advantage of one of the eight sessions.
Each Vintners’ Holidays session includes four informative panel discussions and wine tastings presented by the vintners, as well as a welcome reception. Oftentimes the vintners bring rare, small-production or private vintages to offer an added bit of exclusivity to the event, over what a guest would experience in their tasting rooms. Some even incorporate a food element to their tasting, such as Mumm Napa Estates who will pair their sparkling wines with sushi. Others, such as Corison Winery, will be offering a special vertical tasting of single-vineyard estate wine. At the conclusion of the session, participants enjoy an impressive dinner in the elegant Ahwahnee Dining Room from Executive Chef Percy Whatley who creates a gourmet five-course menu designed to compliment the selected vintners’ wines.
